Joseph Patruno Obituary

Dover: Joseph M. Patruno passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice/Dover General.  He was 88 years of age.

Joseph was born to the late Salvatore and Michelina Patruno on December 1, 1930 in Newark, NJ.  He has lived in Dover since the early 1970’s.

Joseph was a dedicated salesman for more than 30 years for American Brands. He served our country in the National Guard as a tank commander.

He was a member of St. Clements Church of Rockaway serving as an Usher for many years and also led the Rosary group on Saturday mornings.

He was an avid bowler, bowling at Dover lanes on the Dover Merchants League until the day it closed and then moved to Rockaway Lanes. Joseph bowled with and is predeceased by his best friend Bill Miller.

He never missed an opportunity to coach a baseball team! Even if his child was not playing on it. He loved the Yankees, NY Rangers and the Giants, even if they were losing.

He loved the racetrack, fishing and the casino.

He is predeceased by his siblings Angelina Junior and husband Danny, Jennie Pezzino and husband Salvatore, Lucy Metsopolis and husband John and Vincent and wife Dolly.

Loving husband to his beautiful wife Arlene for an incredible 63 years. The best and most hard working father to Linda Patruno, Sandra Holley & husband Robert, Michael Patruno, and Tina Lawrence & husband Thomas Holmes.

He leaves behind his sister Phyliss DeMeo and husband Sam and brothers Edward Patruno and wife Marie and Leonard Saponara and wife Debra and Tony Patruno and wife Beatrice.

Joseph also leaves his adoring 10 Grandchildren: Craig, Tara, Melissa, Krystal, Stefanie, Katelyn, Kimberly, Francesca, Michael, and Joey. 9 Great Grandchildren: Dakota, Jason, Cheyanne, Andrew, Sierra, Hunter, Cobey, Jordan and Jibreel as well as many nieces and nephews including Michelle Sierchio and Danny Junior.

He gave the best advice and had something nice to say to everyone. He never realized his whisper was broken and could fix anything with duct tape! He was an amazing husband, father, provider, and friend and he will forever be missed.

The family will accept visitors 2-4 & 7-9pm on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

A funeral mass will be held 10am on Friday at St. Clement Church, 154 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Rockaway Twp.  Burial will follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Love Lane, Stanhope, NJ.
