Mine Hill: A beautiful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Edna V. Lomotan passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018 surrounded by family at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. She was 64 years of age.
Edna was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and moved to Jersey City, NJ in 1985. As fate would have it, she met her husband in that city and together they started their family. After moving out of the city to Mine Hill, she worked as an accountant for St. Barnabas Medical Center, retiring in 2008. Afterwards, she joined Merry Heart senior services as an activity’s assistant, working with the team to give joy to the residents during their stay.
As a wife, she was cherished and returned that same love tenfold to her beloved husband. As a mother, she was fiercely protective and proud of both her children, demonstrating the special qualities that make an exceptional parent. As a sister, she passed on her wisdom and was always attentive to their needs. Her powerful trust and faith in God shaped her and those around her. Prayer is what helped her through her difficult times of health and is what surrounded her in her final moments. Edna was and always will be remembered for her loving qualities that shine through all of us that she touched throughout our lives.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Ponciano Lomotan, 2 children; Andrew and his wife Michelle of Bordentown and Andrea Lomotan of Mine Hill, brothers and sisters; Helen Vasquez, Nestor Vasquez, Sonia Avila, Wendelita Vasquez Paa, Antonio Vasquez, Romeo Vasquez and Marissa Vasquez, along with their families and her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5-9 pm on Friday September 28, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral Mass will be held 9 am on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in Wharton. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
