Jefferson Twp.: Bruce C. Denton, 71, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on 7/31/19.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lois and Ted Denton. He is survived by his fiancée, Jeannie Dodge; his best friend-considered brother, David Bovill; his Aunt Joy and Uncle Tony Shashaty as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
Bruce served in the Army, where he fought in Vietnam from 1969-1971. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Silver Star and the Bronze star.
He had a strong work ethic. He held numerous jobs, including: working in the mines, a lineman & telephone installer for Verizon, a plastics factory and restoring antique automobiles. At times, he worked three jobs, which enabled him to retire at age 50 to fully enjoy life.
Bruce enjoyed working on cars, fishing, watching NASCAR, travelling, going to concerts & spending time with family. He especially enjoyed being around friends, where he met several of them through the Coastal Jersey Parrothead Club, in which he was a proud member due to the fact that they/we "Party with a Purpose," meaning they hold charitable events at least once a month, while hosting local musicians.
Bruce was very generous with his time when it came to his family and friends; he would give them the shirt off his back if needed. His passing is a great loss to many. He is deeply missed.
Bruce expressed his wish for no services. If you would like to honor him, I'm sure he would appreciate a donation to his favorite charity, the Salvation Army. They were there for him, in his time of need.
