Alfred Vincent Marcinkowski Sr. of Newton, NJ, born on June 14, 1926 in Passaic, NJ son of the late Wasyl and Anna (Drygajlo) Marcinkowski, passed on October 27, 2019 at Bristol Glen United Methodist Communities in presence of his loving son, Alfred Jr.
He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Amelia (Carl), brothers Louis, Nicholas, Boleslaw Fridrich, John Fridrich, and sisters Anna Sophie and her husband Manuel Leonardo, Katherine and her husband Stanley V. Waskiewicz and nephew Stanley E. Waskiewicz.
Growing up in Newark, NJ, he served as an altar boy and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stanislaus RC Catholic Church in Newark, NJ. He served honorably in the US Navy, as a Signalman on the USS GALLATIN (APA 169) during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. Awarded the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Occupation Medal Ribbon.
After his service, he worked as a toolmaker for Crocker Wheeler in East Orange, NJ. Several years later, he was employed by Bendix in Teterboro, NJ, which is now Honeywell Aerospace. He worked as an Electronic Component Assembler moving up to Electronic Component Inspector retiring in 1989.
Alfred Sr. is survived by his beloved sons Alfred Jr. and his wife, Alison of Sparta, NJ, Thomas and his wife, Jody of Randolph, NJ, James of West Palm Beach FL, Niece Diane Waskiewicz of Greenacres, FL. Grandsons, Alfred III (Freddy), Kyle and Granddaughters, Lauren, Carlee and Sarah.
A Celebration of Life in Alfred’s memory will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at The Canal House 47 Kossuth Street, Wharton NJ 07885 at 1pm followed by a luncheon until 5pm.
