Elizabeth Murray Obituary

Elizabeth M. (Betty Czipo) Murray, 88 of Succasunna, passed into the gentle hands of our Lord on Thursday, April 4, after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Betty was born and raised in Wharton where she lived for 74 years until moving to Succasunna. She graduated from Wharton High School in 1953 working at Picatinny Arsenal right out of high school. In 1961, she began working for Dr. Nicholas A. Bertha and later Dr. Edward Forbes in Wharton. For almost the entire 42 years, she was a one-person office handling every detail of an office environment. She loved to read, watch game shows, do word searches and thoroughly enjoyed the yearly March Madness of college basketball even filling out a bracket for this year’s tournament. She had a strong faith in God and the Blessed Mother, praying her rosary many times a day. Those same prayers brought her tremendous comfort especially in her recent difficult times.

Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Katalin Czipo, her sister, Katherine (Joe) Daku, brothers Joseph (Kathleen) Czipo, Stephen (Eleanor) Czipo, John (Marion) Czipo and Francis Czipo. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanette Czipo, and many nephews and nieces.

Hungarian by birth and Irish by marriage, along with her husband of 55 years Joseph J. (Mudder) Murray (2011), a St. Patrick’s Day never went by without much celebration. This was a tradition they joyfully passed along to their children which will continue on down the family line.

Above all else, family was most important to her. She treasured any time spent with them. She is survived by her son Joseph (Valerie) Murray and her daughter Sharon (Tom) Loeffler with whom she lived. If children were her rainbow, her grandchildren were truly her pot of gold. The pride and love she held for her grandchildren knew no bounds, loving them ‘to the moon and back’ she would say. They are Tyler Joseph Murray and Daniel (Kristine) Loeffler, David (Amy) Loeffler, Matthew Loeffler (who was literally her strength during her last days), and Katelin (Michael) Riggs. The lights of her senior life were, without question, her great grandchildren. Known to her great grands as GG, she found such joy, fascination, and contentment in each and every one - Elizabeth, Emily, and Evelyn Loeffler and Norah, Hailey and Jackson Riggs.

In her own words about her passing, she wrote, “Please do not be sad. I was blessed with 2 wonderful children and their spouses who made me very happy along with wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. I pray that you all will go on with your lives and just remember the good times we had. Love and kisses…hopefully from Heaven.”

Visitation will be held 1-4pm on Sunday April 7, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. And, per her request, private family services on Monday. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
