Katherine Alice (Ziesing) Ortmann

Katherine A. Ortmann peacefully passed away surrounded by her children on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.  She was 92 years old.

Katherine was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Frederick Ziesing and Alice née Mosley.  She grew up in Clifton, NJ, later raising her family in West Paterson, NJ. After retirement, she moved with her husband, Leo, to Damascus, Pennsylvania, where they spent many happy years of retirement.  After Leo’s passing, Katherine moved to Panther Valley before moving to Landing, NJ in 2018. 

Katherine  was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Paterson General Hospital Nursing Program in the early 50s.  She worked in various hospitals, nursing homes, and before retiring, as the office nurse for Dr. Vincent Feliciano in Hawthorne, NJ.  

Katherine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, reading, and gardening. More than anything, she loved to be surrounded by her family. Nothing made Katherine happier than being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Katherine is predeceased by her husband, Leo Ortmann, and her brothers, Frederick and Charles.

Katherine is survived by her six children: Karen Skelly, Karyl Engelhardt and her husband Edward, Kathy Lee Adams and her husband Robert, Kristi Dommer and her husband Phil, Kurt Ortmann and his wife Kayte, and Karla Messineo and her husband Keith.

Katherine is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Kerry, Tara, Evan, Sarah, Emily, Patrick, Joseph, Christine, Douglas, Lianne, Kellie, Arielle, Hayley, and Christian and 10 great grandchildren: Marley, Sydney, Jackson, Vivi, Zoe, Maggie, Mila, Grayson, Brynn, and Viola.

Visitation will be held 3-7pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton, NJ 07885.

A private graveside service will be held.
