In Loving Memory of Gloria Tompkins (née Bjornsen).

Gloria Tompkins, née Gloria Bjornsen, peacefully departed this world on March 10, 2024 at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born to Herman and Alma Bjornsen on April 3, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY and lived with her family in Irvington, NJ.

Gloria was a devoted mother and wife. She is predeceased by husband, William Tompkins, her son William "Bill" Tompkins, and her parents, Herman and Alma Bjornsen. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Donna Tompkins, who stood by her side with unwavering devotion. Gloria's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Steven Tompkins, Erik Tompkins, George Tompkins and his wife Melanie Nowling, and Garrett Tompkins and his wife Kelly Tompkins, who will forever carry her spirit forward.

She is survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Ava Zajaczkowski, Aris Zajaczkowski, Derek Tompkins, Gavin Tompkins, Eveline Tompkins, Ronan Tompkins, Wesley Tompkins, and Signy Tompkins, who were the lights of her life, and she took immense joy in watching them grow and thrive.

Gloria spent her life traveling with her husband who was in the US Army. Her son, William “Bill” Tompkins was born while residing at Fort Polk, Louisiana. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her only son. When she became a grandmother, she doted on her four grandsons, sharing stories from family in Norway and sharing love and laughter at every holiday. She had many loving friends and family, and enjoyed sharing stories with them about her eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be private for immediate family, held at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St, Wharton, NJ. She will be laid to rest at Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island with her parents and husband.

May Gloria rest in peace, knowing that her love will continue to guide and inspire those she held dear.
