Wharton: Gwennie G. Martenis passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital/Dover. She was 93 years of age.

Gwennie was born in Cornwall, England, and came to the USA as a child, settling in Wharton

Mrs. Martenis was the Town Clerk for the Borough of Wharton for over 20 years until 1966. She previously had worked at Picatinny Arsenal as a secretary.

Pre-deceased by her husband: Harold N. Martenis in 2010 and her sister: Ada Collict in 1975.

Survived by her son: John Martenis and his wife: Lynda of Kenvil

Daughter: Carol Jean Burrack and her husband: William of Putnam, NY

Also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday (Today) 7-9 PM at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St. Wharton. Funeral service will be held on Saturday 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
